STUDENT ONBOARDING
From invitation to research.
- Invite a student using their own email address.
- They open their secure setup link within 48 hours.
- Keycloak guides them through email verification and password setup.
- Activation updates automatically, or use “Check activation” to confirm setup. Their research account and ChatGPT connection are separate steps.
- Complete the supported ChatGPT connection process with their own account.
Student installation is not automatically completed by account activation. A separate student-account connection test is still required before rollout.

Invitations and account changes require an internet connection. Student records, passwords and authentication tokens are never placed in the offline cache.
Access controls
Suspending blocks new sign-ins. Already-issued Research Companion tokens can remain usable until they expire.
Notifications
Email delivery and activation events appear in Activity. Background push notifications are not enabled in this release.
